Finally, a filmmaker casting First Nations actors for First Nations characters.

  11. John Dorig says:

The depths of the suffering you attempt to uncover goes so deep. Too many of us prefer to stay away from such a difficult reality. It takes a lot of courage to be willing to face it.

  12. Rhonda says:

Looks fantastic! Maybe we can help with distribution and/or fundraising for it.

  14. A.J. Messenger says:

Nice to see a Canadian story brave enough to take on an issue that remains unresolved to this day. We Canadians have much to be proud of but the measure of who we are should be based on how honestly and openly we handle these dark moments of shame and guilt. I congratulate you on bringing one of these moments to light.

  15. someonetodowithnoone says:

Interesting idea for an interesting story, about a dark place in Canada’s past, I hope that it will gain some reconnection.

  16. I was fortunate to view a screening of the full movie this afternoon. The courage and commitment of everyone involved is staggering! Anyone who believes in integrity, justice and truth will want to see this movie. All Canadians need to start demanding a full criminal investigation into the genocide committed by the Canadian government and the churches. Anything less is cowardice — this issue affects ALL of us.

  17. Joanne says:

I think movies like this need to be shown. To think that these families were torn apart, their children ripped out from their arms and subjegated to extreme abuse – if this happened today, the media would be all over it and those abusers would be in jail. Thanks for having the courage to bring the story back to life. Perhaps society can all learn from such a deep, dark past.

  18. childoftheforties says:

This story desperately needs to be told. As an Anglican child I was told terrible untruths about the ’savages’ we were supporting at our ‘Missions’ and how the church was saving their souls. Blessings to you for your courage in telling this. It won’t be easy for the watchers, but I want to watch it.

  19. Nell Cole says:

I can’t wait for the release of the movie. I have been helping Kevin for almost two years now and people don’t understand how much Kevin has laid everything on the line for this truth. It is not his load to carry alone. It is all of our truth to get out there. Please spread the world and support this!

  20. Frank B. says:

All I can say is Kevin Annett is DA MAN! He’s Canada’s real modern day hero … a real life superman without the blue suit and the red cape! :D I’m very much looking forward to the film’s release … can’t wait for it. The minute it comes out on DVD, I’m gonna be right there to grab a copy. Way to go brother. Keep up the great work because eventually most Canadians are gonna support you and your work!

The exposure to all these atrocities needs to continue in order for mainstream Canada to finally have their eyes opened wide to the truth. Party on Kev.

  21. Frank B. says:

Keep up the great work Kev!! You’re awesome! :D

  24. Sue says:

It’s about time! This story had to be brought out, and its time overdue for These People to Finally get Their Voices Heard.

  25. Diane Collins says:

I am so pleased that this movie exists… The truth is not going to be easy for people to swallow… Thank you.

  26. Robert Charles Radford says:

Thank you for tonight’s showing at the studios. It was great to see “Bingo” (Joe Thorne) and “Tousilum” (Ron George) in the movie — two of the best ambassadors from the Cowichan Tribes.

In my humble opinion, the direction and acting were very good. A few editing tweaks and retakes to match the pacing with the mood will make this a first-rate movie.

    Robert Charles Radford

  27. Clive Garlow says:

Kevin will undoubtedly know the meaning of the Mohawk word “Nia:wen.” To those who do not know, it is a very sacred and formal way of saying thank you to Creator. I do not say “thank you” to Kevin, I say “thank you” to Creator FOR Kevin.

    Nia:wen.

    Ona.

  28. Mrs B says:

I hope it’s available in advance of the Olympics and that people can reproduce it for free distribution on street corners, bookstores, coffeeshops, welcome packets, etc. We support your efforts and will show this movie locally in the states as soon as it is available. Thank you for this project.
